Children
We’ve made the decision to make the wedding child free so please make any arrangements needed. Babes in arms are welcome of course. We hope you understand and look forward to celebrating with you. If anyone is really struggling with this please let us know.
Dress
It’s a wedding, yes, but it’s a place to be comfortable. Dress to feel happy. Over the course of the day we are hoping to spend a fair amount of time outside which will include grassy and gravelly bits, and if weather permits our ceremony will be in a field so please bear this in mind when planning outfits.
Getting to Wilde Lodge
Please click here for directions to Wilde Lodge
Accommodation
There is a good choice of accommodation in the local area - please see the list below.
If you’d like to stay in a bell tent in the grounds of Wilde Lodge, please see the tent booking link below. There is a small amount of space on-site for campervans or your own tent. This is booked directly with Wilde Lodge but please contact us first and we’ll pass on details. It will be on a first come, first served basis.
Parking
There is plenty of parking on-site and you’re welcome to leave your car overnight.
Taxis
Our venue is relatively rural so taxis must be pre-booked well in advance. There is one local firm - Wolf Cars - who operate regularly to Wilde Lodge and they have been advised of our date. Book direct on 01584 856690, or find further information at Wolfcar private hire.
Alternative taxi firms in the wider area are Radnor and Kington Taxis 01547 560205 / 07831 898361 and Annette’s Cars, Ludlow 01584 878787.
Bar
The Wilde Lodge bar will be open throughout the day and takes cash and cards. Please don’t bring your own alcohol on-site on the wedding day.
Gifts
We really appreciate the effort people are making to be with us, and that’s the most important thing. We certainly don’t expect gifts but if you do feel the need, a contribution towards our eventual honeymoon would be lovely. We’ll be donating a percentage to Mind charity, in memory of our friend Darry, who would have been centre of the dancefloor if he were here.
Further information if staying on-site
If you are staying with us over the weekend you can arrive anytime from 5pm on Friday 6th June. We’ll have a casual meal (hopefully a BBQ, weather permitting) from around 7pm on the Friday. You’re welcome to BYOB that evening and if possible a contribution to throw on the barbie will be appreciated - we’ll be in touch nearer the time with more details.
On Saturday morning there will be tea, coffee and basic breakfast provisions available in the open barn from 8am - 10am. You also have the option to book a breakfast bun from our wedding team which will be served at 9am.
Or you can head into Knighton (5 mins drive) for cafés and shops. Please note we won’t be providing lunch prior to canapés at 2.45pm.
A ‘posh’ washroom will be situated next to the camping field with 2 toilets and 2 showers - please be mindful of others! There will also be a dedicated dressing room for campers on the side of the main house. It will be open from 9am-12pm with hairdryers, mirrors and charging points.
Bell tent occupants - please check what is included in the bell tent type you selected. A battery pack for phone charging could be useful as there won’t be power in the tents.
